Decided to make this Pikachu steamed cake as my kids are into Pikachu these days. It’s my first time making mushi-pan and I don’t have talent in drawing
so our Pikachu didn’t look very cute after steaming. Luckily kids were still very happy to see their favorite pikachu and have it as their after school snacks.
Adapted recipe from Justonecookbook , just have to portion out the batter for different colors I didn’t get the right proportion so quite a lot of colored batter were wasted.
Ingredients:
120g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 large eggs
60ml unsweetened soy milk
4tbsp sugar
30ml canola oil.
For colored batters I used the following:
Black: 1/8 tsp charcoal powder to 6tsp batter – for ear, eyes and mouth outline
Red: 1/4 tsp tomiz red coloring powder to 8 tsp batter – for cheek and tongue
Plain: 2 tsp plain flour to 6tsp batter – for dots in eyes
Yellow: combination of 1 tbsp pumpkin and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder to remaining of the batter – for face amd ears
I used the above ratio but I ended up adjusting either by adding more plain flour or more batter until I get the color that I want and the consistency that allow me to pipe. So sorry that I can’t give the exact quantity
