Have some leftover gula melaka syrup and egg yolks from making buttercream. So decided to modify challah recipe to incorporate gula melaka syrup.
Other than the hard crust, the bread taste alright 😅but nothing impressive. Just document down the recipe here, if I were to bake this again, will have to lower down the baking temperature.
Ingredients:
- 80g water
- 30g olive oil
- 2 egg yolks (about 32g)
- 290g bread flour
- 25g sugar
- 4g instant yeast
- 1tsp salt
- Gula melaka syrup 59g
Method:
- Mix all ingredients together
- Knead till getting a smooth dough ball , let proof till double (45mins)
- Divide and shape. Let proof for 30 mins
- Bake at preheated oven of 170deg Celsius for 30 mins
