[Thermomix] Quick purple sweet potato steamed buns

Time for some steamed buns againšŸ¤£ coz we need some snacks and ā€œedible sensory playā€ for the kids. This time I didnā€™t reduce the olive oil and kids were complaining that dough is too sticky for them to shape šŸ˜ but we are rewarded with extremely soft and fluffy buns!

Kids still enjoy this activity with me for now. And it makes me wonder when will be the last time they would request for this with me? šŸ„ŗ#emomama

Recipe from perfection with ā€œThermomix in 7 days -quick steamed bunsā€ with some adjustments.

Ingredients:

  • 130g water
  • 3/4tsp instant yeast
  • 15g caster sugar
  • 20g olive oil
  • 250g hongkong flour
  • 1/2 tbsp purple sweet potatoes powder
  • A pinch of salt

Steps:

  1. Mix water , yeast , sugar and oil in mixing bowl , 1 min /speed 2
  2. Add in 250g flour , sweet potatoes powder and salt – knead for 2 mins
  3. Remove dough from mixing bowl, knead on a lightly floured pastry mat manually to a long log, fold the ends in to center and continue to knead. Repeat the knead and fold for 3 times. To remove the gas evenly from the dough.
  4. Divide dough to 10 pieces (total dough about 415g so each piece is about 30g) and shape as desired
  5. Let proof till double (about 30 to 40 mins)
  6. Steamed with high heat with room temperature water and switch to medium heat once water is boiling and continue to steam for 12 mins and let it sit in the steamer for 5 mins before taking it out to avoid shrinkage
